FAQ
Questions, answered
Everything people usually want to know before adopting a Mochi.
What is Mochi?
Mochi is a study companion shaped like a pet. You make study cards for what you want to remember, and Mochi schedules them with spaced repetition — bringing each card back right before you'd forget it. Keep up with your reviews and your Mochi stays fed, happy, and grows.
Do I have to teach or talk to the pet?
No. Mochi isn't a chatbot you lecture. You add your own study cards and quiz yourself on them; the pet reflects how well you're keeping up with your reviews. The learning is real spaced repetition — the creature is the motivation to stick with it.
How is this different from a flashcard app like Anki?
Under the hood it's the same proven idea: spaced repetition and active recall. The difference is everything around it. Anki is powerful but bare; Mochi is built to be opened daily, with a pet whose mood and growth depend on your reviews. It's spaced repetition for people who bounce off the spreadsheet feel.
What can I make cards about?
Anything you can phrase as a prompt and an answer — languages, anatomy, law, history, code, music theory, names and faces. If it's worth remembering, it's a card.
What happens if I skip a few days?
Nothing harsh. Mochi gets hungry and its mood dips as cards pile up, and your streak resets — but a strong bond keeps your pet from wilting completely, and your cards are always waiting. Come back, clear the backlog, and you're caught up.
Is it free?
Mochi is free while we're in early access. If we add a paid plan later, we'll give you plenty of notice and keep a meaningful free tier.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. Mochi runs in the browser and as a mobile app, so your cards and your pet stay in sync wherever you study.
Where is my data stored, and who can see it?
Your account and study data are stored with Supabase, our hosting and database provider. We don't sell your data or show third-party ads. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture, including the rights you have over your data.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@mochi.app. We'll remove your account and associated study data. Account self-service deletion is on our roadmap.
